Watch your body language!
Any article that has the word “tips” or “list” within the title all the time catches my attention. For me, these words mean that the article is a fast read and comprises precious information that I mustn’t miss. This month, I quickly read 7 suggestions to enhance your skilled etiquette. In this text, the creator advises us on presentation, the importance of a confident handshake, details about body language, and more. I especially appreciate the next list of gestures to avoid:
“Some gestures could also be misunderstood and regarded offensive to people from other cultures. To stay secure, attempt to avoid these words in conversation:
• “OK” sign.
• thumbs up
• “V” for the sign of victory, especially with the palm facing inward
• pointing or snapping fingers
• waving along with your hand raised.1“
I need to admit that I actually have made just a few of those gestures myself, especially with mechanically ventilated patients or patients who were otherwise unable to speak verbally. Do you recognize anything that ought to be on this list?
