Nurses working in academia play a vital role in preparing students for his or her first role as a registered nurse

Launch of the National Preceptorship Framework for Nursing in England1 in October 2022 accommodates necessary information for college students and nurses preparing the long run nursing staff. The latest framework defines standards for performing teaching positions in organizations employing nurses. It is predicated on the Principles of Preceptorship developed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).2 and offers a framework of organized support for people starting their careers3.4. Mentoring is critical to initiatives aimed toward retaining early-career nurses5.6.

The latest framework provides academics and students with details about what high-quality teaching looks like. The preceptor role supports the brand new registrant to consolidate knowledge and skills and grow in confidence, with a structured formal approach (reminiscent of a preceptor) being essential for brand spanking new registrants through the transition period4.5.
