Mentoring has been recognized as a method for developing leadership competencies in clinical leaders and has been integrated into leadership programs.

• There’s little research on mentors’ conversational patterns.
• The conversation structure of our mentor, FEA, relies on a spiral approach, elements of reflection and sharing stories. They’ve been found to be useful in facilitating a deep understanding of SBNH leadership and supporting leadership skills.
