The best gift…
My amazing niece graduated from highschool this past weekend and, like 1000’s of other eager 18-year-olds, will likely be heading off to varsity in the autumn. The unique thing about this example, nonetheless, is that it should launch her nursing profession!!! To say I’m excited could be an understatement! There is a lot to learn, a lot to organize, and much more exciting, SO MUCH TO GET!!! All of this got me considering, “What is the perfect gift for a nursing student?” I spend hours scouring the web for fun, meaningful and useful gifts!
I had an ideal time browsing through pages and pages of nursing tools. I read review after review, blogs, journals, nursing school supply lists, but what really helped me was the reminder itself! I sat and thought for a very long time about once I was a nursing student (I wish to pretend it wasn’t that way back) and just tried to recollect what tools I used or liked probably the most! I laughed at how insecure I used to be; I cried remembering a number of the patients; I shuddered on the considered the way it “used to be done.”
I made an enormous list and went “shopping” online! I discovered all the things I wanted (and more I didn’t even know I wanted). I even have practical, useful, unnecessary and even funny latest things!*
My niece absolutely loved all the things! She was wanting to find out about each element! You could see how excited and prepared she was to begin nursing classes!
But I’ll say that I used to be given the best gift! Shopping for gifts for her allowed me to sit down back and reflect by myself nursing student days! I saw myself (a young version) on this beautiful young woman who was wanting to learn and very excited to change into a nurse!
The best gift wasn’t the shiny latest stethoscope or blood pressure cuff I gave her. The best gift was what she gave me – the chance to reflect on my college days, the spark that ignited my desire to learn, and most significantly, someone special who would share my love for nursing!
Congratulations to all the brand new student nurses… and everybody they encourage!
