Nurses’ Unique Perspective: An Interview with Mary Ann Fuchs, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN [Podcast]
Dr. Fuchs began her profession in oncology nursing, later became a specialist clinical nurse in oncology and continued on this path working with adult and pediatric stem cell transplant patients. However, like a lot of us, Dr. Fuchs couldn’t have imagined the turn her profession would take. After being presented with opportunities and supported by mentors, Dr. Fuchs is now a respected leader at a prestigious health system school of nursing.
During our conversation, Dr. Fuchs shared her passion for nursing, three pieces of recommendation for emerging nurse leaders, and the necessary work being done by the Nurses in Board Coalition. Dr. Fuchs emphasized the unique perspective and experience of nurses – we understand what happens to patients, we understand how things work in clinical organizations, and we’re probably the most trusted occupation. Our forum services are essential to sharing every little thing we all know and increasing the impact of our occupation.
