download in Spanish | French
This recent policy [ download in English ] describes the principal standards and requirements for primary audiences purchasing and deploying malaria vector control products through Global Fund resources (French and Spanish versions coming soon).
The document updates the present relevant requirements previously described within the Global Fund Guide to Global Fund Policies for Procurement and Supply Management of Health Products.
The Policy, approved by the Global Fund Board on April 24, 2024, includes:
- Reliance on the WHO Pre-Qualification Program because the mechanism for providing vector control products and on the suitable WHO specifications for related equipment, as currently required.
- Alignment with other Global Fund quality assurance policies, as appropriate (e.g., establishment of an authority panel on vector control products, post-market surveillance requirements, and a risk-based approach to addressing quality issues identified in individual procurement basis).
- Recommendations and requirements for traceability, insecticide resistance monitoring, post-market surveillance and waste management.
In addition, the Global Fund Policy Guide for Procurement and Supply Management of Health Products (also called the “PSM Guide” or “Health Products Guide”) may even be updated to align with the brand new policy. In the meantime, within the event of any discrepancies between the PSM Guide (or other relevant guidance) and the brand new Quality Assurance Policy, the Quality Assurance Policy will prevail.
