He examines the perception of healthcare professionals in the sector of VEMS, simulation technique using flat plastic representations of patients for training. Presents a high quality test methodology. The study includes participants’ interviews and thematic evaluation. The goal is to grasp the flexibleness, commitment and impact of VEM on team work and simulation practices. The article states that VEMS is a feasible and effective approach to simulation. This is especially useful as a consequence of its profitability. In addition, it has ease of delivery in comparison with traditional manicing simulations.
Brazil, V., Speirs, C., Scott, C., Schweitzer, J., I Purdy, E. (2025). Recommendations for the design and provide of visually improved mental simulation: observations from participants and facilitators. Journal of Healthcare Simulation.
Visually improved mental simulation (VEMS) is a way for simulation of health care employees that mixes mental simulation and “thinking”. VEMS offers significant flexibility in simulation design. This flexibility allows teachers to cover a wider range of topics and problems. They may limit the functionality of manicin or concerns about safety in people simulated by people.
Facilitators can easily mix VEM with side trainers or specific clinical equipment, expanding the simulated scope of practice
VEMS is especially suitable for intergenerational team training. He focuses on the coordination of the team and the priority of tasks. Communication strategies and the event of leadership skills were also emphasized.
Both facilitators and students were surprised by the high level of commitment achieved by VEMS. They often considered this to be easier than within the case of simulations based on manicins.
VEMS is a helpful and versatile simulation technique. Promotes commitment and improves learning. This is very true in teamwork and decisions. Its feasibility and profitability make it very suitable for busy healthcare environments.
