Leading look after insufficient populations as an immigrant DNP

As a nursing practitioner (DNP) and immigrant nurse, my profession was deeply shaped by the service for underestimated communities, especially at Queens in New York. Since 2017, I practiced on the Elmhurst hospital and nearby outpatient clinics, including Queens Lung Medical Care. These settings are a rescue line for the richly diverse, heavy population immigrants, which regularly stands within the face of differences in access to healthcare, insurance insurance and health skills.

My journey to advanced nursing practice began with the vision not only of treating individuals, but to inform communities. I emigrated to the United States after graduating from nursing education in India and obtained the scientific degree of a family nurse Cuny Lehman College. In 2024 I graduated DNP from the University of Quinnipiac with a specialization within the care of populations, directed by my desire to expand health capital for marginalized patients.

As FNP And a lung nurse, my role goes far beyond diagnosis and prescriptions. In our outpatient environment, I work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including pulmonologists, specialists in sleep medicine and internists. Together, we manage complex concomitant co-existing, equivalent to obesity, hypertension, heart problems, diabetes and depression, a lot of which, many tightened conditions, equivalent to obstructive sleep apnea (wasp) and chronic pneumonia.

My patient panel consists of individuals from different environments, quite a lot of which speaks of limited English, based on Medicaid or Medicare or has no consistent access to basic healthcare. As a preferred supplier on the net for a lot of insurance carriers, I often function an initial contact point in patients in need of medical or surgical permission, treatment of chronic diseases or referrals.

My role also includes specialized treatment of sleep -related disorders, wasp, insomnia, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and sophisticated pulmonary diagnoses equivalent to COP, asthma, interstitial pulmonary disease and pulmonary hypertension. Using the proofs based on evidence, I enable patients with tools to enhance sleep hygiene, optimize lung function and reduce ER visits.

Serving this community is each knowledgeable and private obligation. I see myself in a lot of my patients, immigrants moving in a brand new system, working in lots of works and priority treating the well -being of their families. Through each patient’s interaction, I attempt to embodiment the philosophy of care led by a nurse, which is characterised by compassion, equality and strengthening.

As an immigrant, my DNP allowed me to mix the cultural observations of my heritage with clinical knowledge of advanced nursing practice. This is the privilege of representing each, especially within the communities that the majority need trusted, available suppliers.
