In September, we participated within the American Hospital Association (AHA) Advocacy Day in Washington, DC. Before we arrived on the Hill, we attended a board meeting attended by doctors and nurses. The agenda and talks concerned practical issues. Participants were expected to be briefed to offer evidence regarding the topics discussed. . Storytelling is an efficient way of coping with sensitive issues and influencing people’s emotions to redirect the subject and influence others.
What are the advantages of telling a brief story on a whiteboard?
- Storytelling provides context and intending to a situation or topic.
- Storytelling sparks creativity.
- Storytelling reignites passion for the topic.
- Storytelling generates empathy for the agenda item.
How to create an enchanting and powerful story?
- Make it short (about three minutes).
- Start with context.
- Use metaphors.
- Contain a component of surprise.
- Appeal to emotions.
- Let or not it’s tangible and specific.
- Use a mode appropriate for business.
- Be polite.
- Confirm board composition to make sure story sensitivity and appropriateness.

Inform and interact others through storytelling to offer perspective and connection to forum topics and ensure good results.
