Honored with a nomination for the Liebster Award
Thank you Julianna Paradisi z JParadisi RN Blog for a nomination for the Liebster Award! These awards allow bloggers to get to know one another higher, recognize and share their favorite blogs with their audiences. To proceed this trend, I would like to share 11 facts about myself, answer 11 questions asked by Julianna, and nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 questions. So here we go:
1. I speak Italian. My parents met when my dad was within the Air Force and stationed near my mom’s hometown in northern Italy. They got married, my brother was born, after which they moved to the USA. I learned the language by visiting our family and studying it at college.
2. I like wearing glasses. I attempted contact lenses, but I could not get used to them. I even have several pairs of glasses directly and I prefer to order different models online.
3. Whenever time and diligence allowed, I took great pleasure in washing patients’ hair, which was often not a straightforward task within the Intensive Care Unit. It was time consuming and messy, but I hope someone will do it for me if I ever grow to be critically unwell.
4. I at all times, at all times wear a watch and I’m often early for all the pieces! This is driving my family crazy!
5. I don’t love styling my hair, but when I even have to, I often straighten it after which curl it. It doesn’t make sense, I do know.
6. NICU nurses are my heroes. For 2 months they saved lives and took care of my twin sons, who were born at 29 weeks.
7. I like gardening. I enjoy weeding and I do not mind mowing the lawn or trimming bushes. The better part, after all, is that you could have fresh vegetables and herbs available all summer long!
8. I still have many books from nursing school. They have been updated with recent releases and despite all the data that’s already available on the Internet, I still cannot part with them.
9. I like folding clean laundry, but I hate putting it away.
10. Math has at all times been my favorite subject. I took Calculus I and II as an elective in nursing school, and now I enjoy doing math homework with my children, regardless that they learn very in another way than I remember!
11. Nurse abuse, horizontal violence – whatever you wish to call it – upsets me greatly, especially when it involves students or recent nurses. We really want to support one another! We all began as beginners!
1. Who was your childhood hero? My older brother! I might do anything to get his attention! I remember I even begged my mother to inform me “I love you.”
2. What books have you ever read greater than once? Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah. It’s an incredible story about friendship, but an actual tearjerker! And William Alexander’s $64 Tomato. I read it yearly as I prepare our garden for the approaching season. Even my children prefer to hearken to fragments in regards to the writer’s adventures within the garden!
3. If you would do one thing in your life again, what wouldn’t it be? I might probably do my MSN in acute care. I enjoyed women’s health and I’m glad I had that knowledge and experience, but I believe my real passion is critical care.
4. How would you describe yourself in a single or shorter sentence? This is difficult! OK, here we go… I’m a mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt who thrives on being with and caring for others.
5. What is your favorite technique to exercise? Walking with friends. It’s an incredible way for us to atone for life and rack up some miles!
6. Name one person from any era, dead or alive, that you want to to satisfy. Mother Teresa.
7. What is your secret talent? I can tap dance; he studied for 13 years!
8. Do you ever dance to music when nobody is watching? Yes, however it’s definitely more fun when my whole family is involved!
9. What is your favorite TV show? Friends.
10. What TV show theme song do you realize by heart? So much! Friends, cheers, The Brady Bunch…. Thank you furthermore may to my children – Phineas and Ferb and Good Luck Charlie.
11. What is one skill you want you had, possible or not? I wish I could control time – the probabilities are infinite…
These are my favorites – enjoy! (Full disclosure – two are LWW magazine blogs)
