Call for proposals: Join the Global Fund’s Youth Council

Are you keen about the role and contribution of young people within the fight against HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria? The Global Fund Youth Council is searching for a various group of enthusiastic young leaders to steer its work over the subsequent two years. If you might be between 18 and 25 years old and have a private or skilled connection to those health challenges, that is your likelihood to assist the Global Fund communicate the actual and evolving needs and priorities of young people around the globe.

The Global Fund Youth Council serves as an advisory body to the Executive Director and Global Fund Secretariat on issues affecting young people affected by these three diseases. The 12-member Council provides insights and key issues and contextual nuances from countries eligible to receive Global Fund allocations. It works to be sure that the Global Fund is informed in regards to the unique needs and perspectives of young people with a purpose to maximize the impact of Global Fund investments within the fight against HIV, tuberculosis and malaria.

As a member of the Youth Council you’ll:

• Advice on key issues affecting young people equivalent to HIV, tuberculosis and malaria.
• Engage with Global Fund management and board members.
• Collaborate with global and regional youth-led networks to advertise youth priorities, especially for key and vulnerable populations.
• Take advantage of this chance to learn more in regards to the Global Fund partnership and develop your leadership and advocacy skills.

• Ensuring regular communication between members of the Youth Council, the Global Fund Executive Director, the Global Fund Secretariat, the Global Fund Board constituencies, and other entities.
• Strengthen links and coordination with global and regional youth networks and other stakeholders.
• Raise the profile of the Global Fund Youth Council and its advocacy priorities through regular interaction with the Global Fund Secretariat and Board.
• Advocate for constructing the capability of young activists to arrange, mobilize resources, and implement effective actions in response to the three diseases.

• Meaningful engagement of youth each on the Executive Director level and on the national level.
• Formalise the participation of young people, including key population groups (KPGs) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), in country coordination mechanisms and be sure that they’re included in national governance processes in a meaningful and ethical manner.
• Meaningfully engage youth within the eighth replenishment of the Global Fund, including through engagement within the implementation of the Advocacy Roadmap, advocating for actions to develop a more positive narrative, countering attacks on human rights and increasing funding for communities and civil society, with a specific concentrate on youth-led funding. Advocating for increased accountability and compliance with minimum human rights standards in grant agreements in countries that violate human rights.

We welcome candidates who:

• Born in 1998 or later.
• They are involved in youth organisations, networks or groups working to combat HIV, tuberculosis or malaria, or in other related areas equivalent to gender equality, human rights, sexual and reproductive health or universal health coverage.
• They are people living with, affected by or liable to HIV, tuberculosis and malaria, including people from key and vulnerable population groups.
• Possibility to devote not less than 2 hours per week to Youth Council activities.
• Can communicate effectively in English.
• Have access to the Internet.

For the 2024–2026 cohort, we’ll prioritize candidates from the next priority areas:

• Asia Pacific and Francophone Africa
• Asia Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean
• Middle East and North Africa (MENA)

While we prioritize these regions, we encourage anyone who meets the standards to use!

• Membership period: 24 months.
• Participation: Remote, with one in-person meeting per 12 months planned.
