Call for expressions of interest: Independent member of the Global Fund Audit and Finance Committee

The Global Fund is in search of two highly qualified and experienced experts, one in financial auditing and one in forensic investigation, to fill two vacant pro bono positions and to function independent, non-voting members of the Audit and Finance Committee (AFC). The chosen individuals will serve the term of office of 2025–2028 from the moment of appointment (initially from May 2025).

The AFC is one in all three standing committees of the Global Fund’s Board of Directors whose purpose is to (i) provide oversight of the financial management of the Global Fund’s resources; (ii) provides oversight of the inner and external audit and investigative functions of the Global Fund; and (iii) ensure optimal performance within the Global Fund’s corporate and financial operations. The recent independent members will join 12 other AFC members elected from the voting constituencies of the Global Fund Board, 2 representatives of non-voting ex-officio Board members, in addition to the non-voting, neutral Chair and Vice-Chair of the AFC.

Time commitment to AFC activities will focus on two-day in-person meetings that typically happen thrice a 12 months in Geneva, Switzerland. The commitment includes preparation for these meetings (e.g. reading the documentation sent roughly two weeks before the meeting), in addition to participation within the meetings. Intersessional work between AFC meetings may involve participation in teleconferences or requests to review relevant documentation. Additionally, independent members may take part in AFC executive sessions, calls, or meetings regarding sensitive audit and financial matters, as directed by the Office of the Inspector General, as needed. In addition to travel and per diem expenses, an honorarium is accessible for in-person meetings.
