Leadership
Are you a nurse leader? Yes!
What does it mean to be a pacesetter? In the past, I assumed of a nurse leader as any nurse in a leadership position or advanced practice nurse. After reading it, my perspective modified. Let me share the next words from the authors to enable you understand why all of us can and must be nurse leaders:
The authors’ work focused on helping individuals find their “inner leader” and develop behaviors that allow them to share their leadership with others. To this end, they identified five “skill concepts”, i.e. skills derived from the concept of leadership:
- – have knowledge and be confident in it
- – know where you are going
- – deal with your goals and easy methods to achieve them; avoid taking things personally (you really want to read this a part of the article in its entirety!)
- – recognize resistance as an indication that you simply are making an impact
- – remember which you can at all times gain something positive, even once you face challenges
I hope you discover this text as inspiring as I do. You can read it free of charge online until July 1, 2011, similar to our current featured magazine. Tell me what you’re thinking that!
